What I do here

I built MotorJury and I run it. I designed the scoring model that turns NHTSA complaint and recall records into a per-model-year verdict, I decide what the site publishes and what it refuses to publish, and I write and sign the buyer's guides. Corrections come to me.

What I am not

I am not a mechanic, a dealer or a manufacturer's representative, and nothing here is a road test. I have never been paid by a manufacturer, a dealer, an insurer or a parts retailer, and no advertiser has ever seen a verdict before it was published or been able to change one afterwards. Where this site knows something it is because a federal record says so, and where it does not know, it says so instead of guessing.

How the site divides the work

Most of MotorJury is not written by anyone. The model-year verdicts, the nameplate pages, the comparisons and the catalogue are produced by a build that reads the public record and applies a published formula, and they carry a line saying exactly that in place of a byline, because claiming a human author for a computed page would be a lie. The buyer's guides are the written layer, and those carry my name.

Accountability

If a number on this site is wrong, it is wrong because the formula or the data is wrong, and the fix goes into the formula so it reaches every affected page on the next nightly build — not into one page quietly. Write to corrections@motorjury.com and I will answer. The editorial policy sets out the rules I hold the site to and the methodology is the formula itself, in full.
