Terms of Use

Effective 2026-10-04. These terms apply to motorjury.com and everything published on it. Using the site means you accept them.

What the site is

MotorJury publishes ownership-cost data, reliability verdicts, recall summaries and buyer's guides for cars sold in the United States, computed from public records held by the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), plus class-level estimates of prices, depreciation, insurance and running costs. The methodology page describes every formula. The editorial policy describes what is computed, what is written by a person, and how corrections are handled.

Information, not advice

Everything on the site is provided for general information. A score, a verdict or a guide describes the pattern in the federal record for a model year across all the cars of that type; it is not an inspection of the particular car in front of you, and it cannot tell you whether that car is sound. Prices, running costs, depreciation and insurance figures are estimates, labelled as such, and are not quotes, valuations or offers. Nothing here is legal, financial or mechanical advice. Before buying a car, have it inspected, check its history, and verify every open recall against NHTSA's own VIN lookup at nhtsa.gov/recalls, because a recall record on this site may be incomplete or out of date.

Accuracy and corrections

We work from the public record as published and refresh it regularly, but the record itself contains errors and gaps, and our processing can introduce more. We correct mistakes when they are pointed out; the process is described on the editorial policy page. The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MotorJury and its editor are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or reliance on anything published on it.

Using the content

You may quote and cite the data and the written material with attribution and a link to the page it came from. Bulk copying, scraping or republishing of pages, or of the underlying data files beyond the published data packs, requires a licence: write to the editor. Car photographs are the work of their credited photographers and are used under the Creative Commons licences stated on each image's Wikimedia Commons page; text derived from Wikipedia is used under CC BY-SA 4.0, as noted on the about page. NHTSA and EPA data are public domain works of the United States government.

Accounts and owner responses

An account is for one person. You are responsible for what is submitted from it. Owner-survey answers must describe a car you have actually owned; we remove ratings and comments that are abusive, promotional, off-topic or evidently not from an owner, and we may close accounts that submit them. You may delete your account at any time by writing to privacy@motorjury.com.

Advertising and affiliate links

The site carries advertising served by Google AdSense and may carry affiliate links; both are described on the disclosure page. Advertisers and affiliate partners have no influence on any score, verdict or guide.

Trademarks

Manufacturer and model names are the trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify the vehicles the data describes. MotorJury is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any manufacturer, dealer, insurer or government agency.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of Portugal, and disputes are subject to the courts of Porto, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence. If any provision is found unenforceable the rest remain in effect.
