Editor's note

Avoid the 2021 Tahoe, the first year of the current generation, which scores 39 on 443 owner complaints and carries twelve recall campaigns, ten of them safety-critical. Buy a 2022, 2024 or 2025, which score 77, 82 and 82 on 182, 62 and 46 complaints; the 2023 is CAUTION at 61 on 209. Read the full note on the model page. 2022 specifically: a year the record favours — 182 complaints, score 77/100. The caveats in the note apply to other years of this nameplate more than to this one.

Onstar hardware failure. I have already replaced the onstar module in 2023 due to failure. Now the hardware has failed again. No longer under warranty and GM will not replace.
The transmission began slipping at 20, 25, 35, and 45 mph by the time we hit 80k miles. The vehicle was out of warranty. We were told it was unaffected by the recalls and not related to the issues affecting other drivers. It now has 167k miles and we have tried having the transmission flushed but it still slips and needs a new transmission. Chevy knows about these issues and refuses to replace their horrible product …
