Editor's note
Avoid the 2012 to 2015 Passat, four AVOID verdicts at 26, 26, 26 and 47; buy a 2016 or 2017, which score 81 and 72 on medium evidence, and treat the 2018 to 2022 cars' scores of 87 to 95 as promising rather than proven, because every one is on low evidence. Air Bags is the top component on the 2012 to 2015 cars at 295, 382, 354 and 88, and the driver frontal air bag inflator campaigns 16V078000, 18V148000 and 19V862000 on the 2012 to 2014 cars, with 19V014000 on the 2015, account for it; 15V483000 covers the same years for debris in the frontal air bag. Read the full note on the model page. 2013 specifically: this is one of the years the note above says to approach with care — 748 complaints on record, verdict AVOID.

Passenger side headlight went out. The problem was not the bulb or fuse. This issue seems to perfectly match Safety Recall 94G8, but for some reason my car is not covered in that recall notice, even though safety recall 94G8 is for "some" 2012-2013 VW Passats, which is what I drive.
My airbag light is on, steering wheel controls don’t work, and my horn doesn’t work. Safety is put at risk because the airbag won’t deploy if needed, won’t be able to think in case someone can’t see me.
