Toyota Prius

Editor's note

The third-generation Prius (2010–2015) carries complaints about the inverter, the brake actuator, and, on the 2010–2011 cars, oil consumption and head-gasket failure on the 1.8-litre engine. Hybrid-battery degradation on high-mileage examples appears as complaints rather than recalls. Read the full note on the model page. 2015 specifically: a year the record favours — 165 complaints, score 84/100. The caveats in the note apply to other years of this nameplate more than to this one.

I was rear-ended by a truck in my prius and my seat laid back on impact. I'm unaware if that was an intended thing or not but it potentially could have injured my neck. My car is currently in a storage lot awaiting the adjustor's inspection so it is available for inspection if needed. No warning lights were available and it hasn't been recreated by the dealer
