Editor's note
The fourth-generation Odyssey (2011–2017) is one of the best minivans in the dataset, scoring in the 70s and 80s. The fifth generation launched for 2018 with a ten-speed automatic and a new infotainment system, and the record collapsed: nearly a thousand complaints for each of 2018 and 2019, most of them transmission shudder and hesitation, sliding-door failures, and the rear-seat entertainment system. Read the full note on the model page. 2025 specifically: this is one of the years the note above says to approach with care — 374 complaints on record, verdict AVOID.

What owners say
Verbatim reports filed with the United States safety regulator (NHTSA) by owners of this exact model year. Public record.
This car has on multiple occasions now just turned off the Enginee when stop at a stop light and the Enginee idle feature is on. It makes you restart the car when you are trying to go from a stop light this is dangerous and causes angry driver behind you. I took my one year old car to the Honda dealership and they said they couldn’t help. This is a safety issue. It’s happening more and more frequently
Multiple instances of the auto start not reengaging while stopped at intersection. Have to completely shut off and restart vehicle.
When traveling to multiple destinations, upon attempting to start the van, it will not start. This is also the case with the auto start/stop program. The van's engine will stop at dangerous locations, such as a busy traffic light, or at any other stop where the engine turns off. There were no warning lights, but the van would only start if tried multiple times. This is incredibly dangerous and nerve-wracking.
