Peugeot does not build many cars like the Peugeot e-208: a 5-door hatchback, built from 2019 as electrification stopped being an experiment and the crossover took every market. Its designer of record is Kevin Gonçalves / Yann Beurel / Eric Dejou.
The background
Peugeot e-208 is the electric version of the popular Peugeot 208, initially introduced in 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show. The e-208 came with a 100 kW engine and a heat-pump controlled 50 kWh lithium-ion battery. Peugeot e-208 was positively received by reviewers and the market. Sales exceeded Peugeot initial forecasts several times over. Second generation Peugeot e-208 is expected to debut in 2026.
Under the skin
The record carries the shape — a 5-door hatchback — and the layout: the engine drives the front wheels, the packaging choice that gives a small car a big cabin. The engine, output and weight have not yet reached the open record, and MotorJury does not guess at them.
Where it sits
Where it sits in Peugeot's history is not in doubt: it was built at Stellantis Trnava Plant. On a showroom list of its day it stood against the Porsche Taycan, the Tesla Model Y, the Kia EV6. Its Peugeot stablemates include the Peugeot Onyx and the Peugeot Pars.
