The Kia EV6 is a 5-door SUV from Kia, built from 2021, in the decade the industry is turning electric. Lee Hyo-Sung and Choi Hong-Seok drew it.
Where it came from
The Kia EV6 (Korean: 기아 EV6) is a battery electric compact crossover SUV produced by Kia since 2021. It is the first Kia dedicated electric vehicle, and the first model developed on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5. It is also the first model to be named under the new nomenclature designated for a line of Kia electric cars, EV series, which will range from EV1 to EV9. The EV6 was the 2022 European Car of the Year.
Under the skin
125-430 kW is the published figure. It weighs 1825-2090 kg. Work it out per tonne and you get about 68 horsepower — unhurried — enough for the job, not for the bragging. It shifts through a Single-speed reduction gear. The wheelbase is 2900 mm. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.
In context
Its family tree is legible: assembly was at Hwaseong. Its contemporaries in the catalogue — the Mercedes-Benz EQS, the BMW i4, the BYD Dolphin — show what else the money bought that year. Nearby in the Kia catalogue sit the Kia K5 (Optima) and the Kia Magentis.
What it costs now
The money question first: $19,800–$39,200 is the typical asking range today, and running it — fuel and maintenance at its age — costs about $1,005–$1,910 a year. Insurance sits around $1,480–$2,250 a year. The figures are class-level estimates from the federal record, with the formula on the methodology page; the model-year pages carry complaints, recalls and repair costs year by year.
