The Nissan Foria is a 4-door quad coupe from Nissan, built from 2005, in the decade of stability control, dual-clutch gearboxes and the first serious hybrids. Richard Winsor drew it.
The story
The Nissan Foria is a compact 2+2-door quad coupe concept car revealed by Japanese automobile manufacturer Nissan at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show inspired by the 1965 Nissan Silvia.
Under the skin
The record carries the shape — a 4-door quad coupe — and the layout: a front engine drives the rear wheels, the classic proportion — long bonnet, cabin set back — that most people picture when they picture a sports saloon or a grand tourer. The engine, output and weight have not yet reached the open record, and MotorJury does not guess at them.
Its place in the line
Its family tree is legible: it took over from the Nissan Silvia (spiritual). Its contemporaries in the catalogue — the Aston Martin Vantage, the Audi Q7, the Kia Sportage — show what else the money bought that year. Nearby in the Nissan catalogue sit the Nissan N6 and the Nissan N7.
