Kia does not build many cars like the Kia PV5: a 5-door minivan (Passenger and WAV) / 6-door panel van (Cargo) / 2-door chassis cab, built from 2025 in the decade the industry is turning electric. Its designer of record is Karim Habib.

How it came about

The Kia PV5 (Korean: 기아 PV5) is a battery electric van and minivan, and PBV produced by Kia since 2025. It is Kia's first-ever dedicated electric van. Based on the dedicated E-GMP.S platform, it is the first model from the manufacturer's "PV" series. It is offered in Passenger, Cargo, chassis cab, and wheelchair-accessible versions, while conversion models include leisure, refrigerated, and frozen vehicles, and the PV5 Crew is exclusive to the European market.

The hardware

it is rated at 89.4 kW. Kerb weight is NNNN -. The layout matters: the engine drives the front wheels, the packaging choice that gives a small car a big cabin. The wheelbase is 2995 mm. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.

Family and rivals

Where it sits in Kia's history is not in doubt: the Kia PV7 followed it; it was built at Hwaseong (Autoland Hwasung), South Korea. On a showroom list of its day it stood against the Suzuki e Vitara, the BYD Seal 05 DM-i, the Nissan N7. Its Kia stablemates include the Kia K5 (Optima) and the Kia Magentis.
