The Fangchengbao Ti3 is the BYD Auto that answered a simple question — how much car can this badge carry? — with 160 kW from four-wheel drive. It was built from 2025, in the decade the industry is turning electric. The shape is credited to Under the lead of Wolfgang Egger.
How it came about
The Fangchengbao Tai 3 (Chinese: 方程豹 钛3; lit. 'Formula leopard Titanium 3') is a battery electric compact crossover SUV manufactured by BYD Auto under the Fangchengbao brand. First announced in 2024, the model went on sale in April 2025. It is the first battery electric vehicle from Fangchengbao, and the first model from the "Tai/Ti" (Chinese: 钛; lit. 'Titanium') product line from the brand, as the brand's previous models are plug-in hybrid vehicles from the "Bao" (Chinese: 豹; lit. 'Leopard') line.
The hardware
The engine is four-wheel drive; the output is 160 kW. On the scales it comes to 1995–2265 kg. That is roughly 80 horsepower per tonne: unhurried — enough for the job, not for the bragging. The wheelbase is 2745 mm. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.
Family and rivals
In the BYD Auto line-up the Fangchengbao Ti3 has a clear place: the factory was Xi'an, Shaanxi. The cars a buyer would have weighed it against include the Mazda CX-6e, the Toyota bZ5, the Kia PV5. Its BYD Auto stablemates include the Fangchengbao Bao 5 and the Fangchengbao Bao 8.
