Great Wall Motor does not build many cars like the Ora Lightning Cat: a 4-door Sedan (automobile) / sedan / 5-door station wagon, built from 2022 in the decade the industry is turning electric.

How it came about

The Ora Lightning Cat (Chinese: 欧拉闪电猫; pinyin: Ōulā Shǎndiàn Māo) is a battery electric mid-size sedan and station wagon produced by Chinese EV manufacturer Ora, a marque of Great Wall Motor since 2022. It is marketed overseas since 2023 as the GWM Ora 07.

The hardware

it is rated at 150 kW. Kerb weight is 2183 kg. Power-to-weight lands near 69 horsepower per tonne, which is unhurried — enough for the job, not for the bragging. The wheelbase is 2870 mm. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.

Family and rivals

Where it sits in Great Wall Motor's history is not in doubt: it was built at Taizhou, Zhejiang, China. On a showroom list of its day it stood against the Kia EV6, the Mercedes-Benz EQE, the BYD Destroyer 05. Its Great Wall Motor stablemates include the Great Wall Coolbear and the Great Wall Cowry.
