Geely does not build many cars like the Geely CK: a 4-door sedan with Petrol engine, built from 2005 to 2016 in the decade of stability control, dual-clutch gearboxes and the first serious hybrids.
The background
The Geely CK is a subcompact sedan produced by the Chinese manufacturer Geely Auto from May 2005 to January 2016. The CK's Chinese name, Ziyoujian, stands for "Freedom Ship" or "Free Cruiser". It was sold as the Geely Otaka on the Russian market in 2007–2008. The car was also sold as the Gleagle CK in the Chinese domestic market, part of Geely's recent proliferation of brands.
The engineering
Under the skin sits Petrol engine; other versions carried different engines, listed in the specification table below. Kerb weight is 1042 kg. The gearbox is a 5-speed Manual transmission / manual / 4 speed Automatic transmission / automatic. The layout matters: the engine drives the front wheels, the packaging choice that gives a small car a big cabin. The wheelbase is 2434 mm. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.
Where it sits
Where it sits in Geely's history is not in doubt: the Geely MK followed it; it was built at Zhejiang. On a showroom list of its day it stood against the Kia Sportage, the Bugatti Veyron, the Aston Martin Vantage. Its Geely stablemates include the Geely GE and the Geely Yuanjing X6.
