The BYD K10MR is a Monocoque stressed-skin from Byd, built from 2015 to 2016, as electrification stopped being an experiment and the crossover took every market.

How it came about

The BYD K10MR is a battery electric bus manufactured by BYD Auto for the Regional Transportation District's (RTD) 16th Street FreeRide shuttle in Denver, Colorado. It was developed specifically for operation on the 16th Street pedestrian mall.

Under the skin

The record carries the shape — a Monocoque stressed-skin. The engine, output and weight have not yet reached the open record, and MotorJury does not guess at them.

Family and rivals

Its family tree is legible: assembly was at Lancaster, California. Its contemporaries in the catalogue — the Chevrolet Camaro, the Ferrari 488, the Ford Escort — show what else the money bought that year. Its Byd stablemates include the BYD 8TT and the BYD Atto 2.
