The Peugeot BB1 is a 3-door hatchback from Peugeot, built from 2009, in the decade of stability control, dual-clutch gearboxes and the first serious hybrids. Athanassios Tubidis (exterior) / Neil Simpson (interior) drew it.
The story
The Peugeot BB1 is a fully electric concept city car that was introduced by Peugeot at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. It incorporated rear in-wheel motors, designed in collaboration with Michelin, each with a maximum power output of 7.5 kW (10 hp) and torque on each wheel of 320 N⋅m (236 lbf⋅ft). The car included four seats, was 2.5 metres (98 in) long and 1.6 metres (63 in) wide.
Under the skin
The record carries the shape — a 3-door hatchback. The engine, output and weight have not yet reached the open record, and MotorJury does not guess at them.
Its place in the line
Its contemporaries in the catalogue — the Tesla Roadster, the Nissan Leaf, the Lexus LFA — show what else the money bought that year. Nearby in the Peugeot catalogue sit the Peugeot Onyx and the Peugeot Pars.
