Start with what the Lincoln MKC is: a 5-door SUV with Gasoline engine, built from 2014 to 2019, as electrification stopped being an experiment and the crossover took every market. What it meant takes a little longer.

The background

The Lincoln MKC is a compact luxury crossover produced by the automotive luxury brand Lincoln. Lincoln launched the MKC concept at the 2013 LA Auto Show and the production model officially went on sale in June 2014. The MKC is built upon the Ford Global C platform, shared with the Ford Escape small SUV. For the 2020 model year, the MKC was replaced by the Lincoln Corsair, as Lincoln transitioned away from "MK" model nomenclatures.

The engineering

The engine is Gasoline engine; other versions carried different engines, listed in the specification table below. Drive goes through a 6-speed automatic. The wheelbase is 2690 mm. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.

Where it sits

In the Lincoln line-up the Lincoln MKC has a clear place: it replaced the Mercury Mariner; it handed the line to the Lincoln Corsair; the factory was Louisville, Kentucky (Louisville Assembly Plant), United States. The cars a buyer would have weighed it against include the Infiniti Q50, the Ford Escort, the Chevrolet Camaro. Its Lincoln stablemates include the Lincoln First Call and the Lincoln Funeral Car.
