Start with what the Lexus LF-Gh is: a 4-door sedan with Lexus hybrid drive, built from 2011, as electrification stopped being an experiment and the crossover took every market. What it meant takes a little longer. The shape is credited to Kengo Matsumoto.

The background

The Lexus LF-Gh ("Lexus Future Grand-touring Hybrid") is an LF concept vehicle by Lexus which debuted at the 2011 New York International Auto Show. The LF-Gh is a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform powered by a Lexus Hybrid Drive powertrain. The LF-Gh also provide a hint of what future Lexus models, mainly the Lexus GS which was scheduled for late 2011, might look like.

The front and the back of the LF-Gh is equipped with LED headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights. To improve aerodynamics the LF-Gh's door handles are sealed into the door panel and could be pushed to open out. the large spindle grille on the front of the LF-Gh brings out the aggressiveness of the design.

The engineering

The engine is Lexus hybrid drive. The layout matters: a front engine drives the rear wheels, the classic proportion — long bonnet, cabin set back — that most people picture when they picture a sports saloon or a grand tourer. The wheelbase is 112.2 in. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.

Where it sits

The cars a buyer would have weighed it against include the Lamborghini Aventador, the Mazda CX-5, the Tesla Model X. Its Lexus stablemates include the Lexus ES (V20) and the Lexus GS 450h.
