The Lamborghini Fenomeno is the Lamborghini that answered a simple question — how much car can this badge carry? — with 824 hp at 9,250&nbsp from 6498 cc L545 naturally aspirated&nbsp. It was built from 2025, in the decade the industry is turning electric. Mitja Borkert drew it.

How it came about

The Lamborghini Fenomeno is a mid-engine plug-in hybrid sports car produced by the Italian automobile manufacturer Lamborghini. A total of 29 units were built, all of which were sold before the official presentation.

The hardware

Power comes from 6498 cc L545 naturally aspirated  824 hp at 9,250&nbsp is the published figure. It weighs 1772 kg dry. Work it out per tonne and you get about 7 horsepower — leisurely, which for a car of its age and purpose is the point. It shifts through a 8-speed Graziano dual-clutch automatic. The layout matters: the engine sits behind the driver and ahead of the rear axle, which puts the mass in the middle of the car and is why mid-engined cars change direction the way they do. The wheelbase is 2779 mm. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.

Family and rivals

Its family tree is legible: assembly was at Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy. Its contemporaries in the catalogue — the Geely Panda Mini EV — show what else the money bought that year. Its Lamborghini stablemates include the Lamborghini Calà and the Lamborghini Marco Polo.
