Hongqi does not build many cars like the Hongqi Guoli: a 4-door sedan with 4.0 L V8 engine, built from 2014 as electrification stopped being an experiment and the crossover took every market. Its designer of record is Xiu Yi.
How it came about
The Hongqi Guoli (Chinese: 红旗国礼), formerly and also known as the Hongqi L5, is a large neo-retro full-size luxury sedan produced by Chinese automobile manufacturer Hongqi, a subsidiary of FAW Group since 2014, whose design was inspired by the discontinued Hongqi CA770. The Guoli serves as Hongqi's current flagship vehicle for the Chinese automotive market.
The hardware
Under the skin sits 4.0 L V8 engine; other versions carried different engines, listed in the specification table below. Kerb weight is 3150 kg. The gearbox is a 6-speed TB-68 Automatic transmission / automatic (CA7600) / 8-speed automatic (CA7400).
