The Holden Colorado is a 2-door pickup truck / 4-door pickup truck from Holden, built from 2008 to 2020, in the decade of stability control, dual-clutch gearboxes and the first serious hybrids.

The background

The Holden Colorado is a range of 2- and 4-door, compact pickup trucks (mk1) and mid-size pickup trucks (mk2) that were produced for Australian manufacturer Holden, a subsidiary of General Motors from 2008 to 2021. Since its launch in 2008, it has been produced at the General Motors Thailand factory in Rayong, Thailand.

This model is essentially a rebadged variant of the Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, and replaces the previous Rodeo model, which is a rebadged variant of the Isuzu D-Max. The Colorado was made due to the split of GM and Isuzu.

Under the skin

The record carries the shape — a 2-door pickup truck / 4-door pickup truck. The engine, output and weight have not yet reached the open record, and MotorJury does not guess at them.

Where it sits

Its family tree is legible: it took over from the Holden Rodeo / Holden Ute; assembly was at Rayong (General Motors Thailand), Thailand. Its contemporaries in the catalogue — the Nissan 370Z, the Tesla Roadster, the Volkswagen Tiguan — show what else the money bought that year. Its Holden stablemates include the Holden 48-215 and the Holden Adventra.
