The 1952 Ford is a 2-door sedan (Tudor) / 4-door sedan (Fordor) / 2-door station wagon / (Ranch Wagon) / 4-door station wagon / (Country Sedan, Country Squire) / 2-door coupe (Club Coupe) / 2-door bu from Ford, built from 1952 to 1954, at the height of the post-war boom. Under the bonnet: 215&nbsp.

How it came about

The Ford line of cars was refreshed for 1952, although remaining similar to the all-new 1949 Fords. This time, curved one-piece windshield glass joined a new "Mileage Maker" straight-6 engine with 101 hp. The 226 CID (3.7 L) L-head straight-6 was replaced by an overhead valve 215 CID (3.5 L) Mileage Maker with 101 hp (75 kW), while the old 239 CID (3.9 L) Flathead V8 remained with 110 hp (82 kW). This design would continue through the 1954 model year, with an updated design offered in 1955.

The hardware

Power comes from 215  other versions carried different engines, listed in the specification table below. It shifts through a 4-speed sliding-mesh manual / Ford-O-Matic 3-speed automatic transmission. The layout matters: a front engine drives the rear wheels, the classic proportion — long bonnet, cabin set back — that most people picture when they picture a sports saloon or a grand tourer. The wheelbase is 115 in. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.

Family and rivals

Its family tree is legible: it took over from the 1949 Ford; its successor was the 1955 Ford; assembly was at Dearborn, MI. Its contemporaries in the catalogue — the Cadillac Eldorado, the Chevrolet Corvette, the Toyota Land Cruiser — show what else the money bought that year. Its Ford stablemates include the Ford 021C and the Ford Escort.

What it costs now

There is no federal ownership record for the 1952 Ford — it predates the complaint database or was never sold in the United States — so MotorJury publishes no running-cost figure for it. For a car of this age the price is set by the collector market and the condition of the individual example, not by a formula.
