The Acura CSX is a 4-door sedan from Acura, built from 2005 to 2011, in the decade of stability control, dual-clutch gearboxes and the first serious hybrids. Under the bonnet: Petrol engine. Motoaki Minowa and Jiro Ikeda drew it.
How it came about
The Acura CSX is Acura's subcompact executive car exclusively designed for the Canadian market and sold from 2006–2011 model years. Like the Acura EL, it was only available in Canada and built in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. For the 2013 model year, the ILX was introduced as the CSX's replacement and is available in both the United States and Canada.
The hardware
Power comes from Petrol engine; other versions carried different engines, listed in the specification table below. It weighs 1313 kg. It shifts through a 5-speed manual / 5-speed automatic / 6-speed manual (Type-S). The layout matters: the engine drives the front wheels, the packaging choice that gives a small car a big cabin. The wheelbase is 2700 mm. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.
Family and rivals
Its family tree is legible: it took over from the Acura EL; its successor was the Acura ILX; assembly was at Alliston, Ontario (HCM), Canada. Its contemporaries in the catalogue — the Kia Sportage, the Audi Q7, the Bugatti Veyron — show what else the money bought that year. Its Acura stablemates include the Acura ADX and the Acura ARX-06.
