The General Motors Sequel is a 5-door SUV from GM (General Motors), built from 2005 to 2006, in the decade of stability control, dual-clutch gearboxes and the first serious hybrids. Under the bonnet: Hydrogen fuel cell.
The background
The Chevrolet Sequel is a purpose-built hydrogen fuel cell-powered concept car and sport utility vehicle from Chevrolet, employing the then-latest generation of General Motors' fuel cell technology. The Sequel's powertrain included an electronic control unit and a fourth-generation version of GM's fuel-cell stack. The Sequel became the basis for the design of the gas-powered Chevrolet Traverse, which was the replacement for the Uplander minivan.
The engineering
Power comes from Hydrogen fuel cell. It weighs 2070 kg. The wheelbase is 3040 mm. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.
Where it sits
Its contemporaries in the catalogue — the Audi Q7, the Kia Sportage, the Bugatti Veyron — show what else the money bought that year. Its GM (General Motors) stablemates include the 1955 Chevrolet and the 1957 Chevrolet.
