Some cars leave a paper trail; the Spark SRT 05e left a name and a place in Dallara's list. What follows is what can be said with a source behind it. The shape is credited to Théophile Gouzin (Technical Director).

Where it came from

The Spark SRT05E, also known as the Spark Gen2 (or the Spark Gen2EVO for the unreleased upgraded chassis that was set to be introduced in the 2020–21 season but eventually cancelled) was an electric formula race car designed for use in the FIA Formula E Championship. The car was the successor to the SRT01-e, and was constructed by Spark Racing Technology with assistance from Dallara.

It was used as the base car for all manufacturers and teams from the 2018-2019 FIA Formula E Championship. The car featured a new 56 kW⋅h (202 MJ) battery from McLaren Applied Technologies, alongside the Halo cockpit protection system, and was the first Formula E car capable of completing a full-race distance.

Under the skin

the output is 250 kW. On the scales it comes to 900kg. That is roughly 278 horsepower per tonne: genuine supercar pace. The wheelbase is 3100mm. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.

In context

In the Dallara line-up the Spark SRT 05e has a clear place: it replaced the SRT01-e; it handed the line to the Gen3. Nearby in the Dallara catalogue sit the Dallara 320 and the Dallara F191.
