The Chery Arrizo 7 is a 4-door sedan from Chery, built from 2013, as electrification stopped being an experiment and the crossover took every market. Under the bonnet: 1.5 L SQRE4T15 I4 turbo. James Brain Hope / Hakan Saracoğlu / Klaus Badenhausen / Qiu Yan drew it.

How it came about

The Chery Arrizo 7 (Chinese: 艾瑞泽7) is a compact sedan produced by Chinese automobile manufacturer Chery. It is the first vehicle of the Arrizo series. The first generation Arrizo 7 was produced from 2013 to 2018 as a A+ segment sedan in the Chinese market, which is a slightly larger compact sedan. The second generation was planned to be unveiled during the 2026 Chengdu Auto Show in August 2026.

The hardware

Power comes from 1.5 L SQRE4T15 I4 turbo; other versions carried different engines, listed in the specification table below. It shifts through a 5-speed manual / CVT. The layout matters: the engine drives the front wheels, the packaging choice that gives a small car a big cabin. The wheelbase is 2700 mm. These are manufacturer figures carried by Wikipedia and Wikidata, not road-test measurements.

Family and rivals

Its family tree is legible: it took over from the Chery Eastar; assembly was at Wuhu, Anhui, China. Its contemporaries in the catalogue — the Infiniti Q50, the Mazda CX-5, the Tesla Model X — show what else the money bought that year. Its Chery stablemates include the Chery Arrizo 5 GT and the Chery A1.
